Emily Mawson

Clinical Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist with an interest in women’s health issues and trauma.  I began my career in the design industry where I worked for a number of years. Over time, I became interested in creative art therapy techniques and began to wonder about how to support individuals to change. These questions ultimately lead me to study clinical psychology.

I bring a compassionate and strengths-based approach to all of my work, drawing on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and creative arts therapy techniques. I have particular interests in working with developmental trauma, relational and attachment difficulties. In addition to my role at In Dialogue, I also work at the Werribee Mercy Mother Baby Unit. I previously worked at headspace with adolescents, young people and their families. I am skilled in working with a variety of complex presentations, including trauma, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias and life transition concerns.
