Jacqui Mackinnon

Psychotherapist/Occupational Therapist

My aim is to provide a safe space where you can share your story. From here we will explore what may be leading you to feel stuck by viewing the difficulty in a wider context.

I am a psychotherapist and occupational therapist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency and Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health initiative. I currently work in both private practice and public mental health services.

I have had extensive experience working with young people, adults and families providing treatment for a range of personal difficulties. These include stress and anxiety, mood fluctuations including depression and bipolar disorder, relationship challenges, life and role changes including parenting, work life balance, disordered eating including body image concerns, suicidal thinking and self harm, trauma, behavioural and addiction problems, symptoms of psychosis and self esteem. Additionally I am experienced in working with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and/or those who identify as gender diverse or neutral.

I believe that no one therapy alone can truly assist with exploring your unique experience, circumstances and patterns of relating. For this reason I draw on a range of therapeutic models to equip you with strategies to find a way forward. I am a qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner/supervisor and have also completed training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

In session I have a down to earth and open communication style. I am understanding and my aim is to provide a safe space where you can share your story. From here we will explore what may be leading you to feel stuck by viewing the difficulty in a wider context.

I also have a strong belief in the value of clinical supervision for those wanting to reflect on current work challenges, build on strengths or explore alternative vocational directions.
